This was a truly inspiring column. The parallels between now and then are striking. As left-wing authoritarians like Trudeau attempt to strip Canadians of their freedom, firebrand patriots of all colors and stripes are standing against left-wing tyranny together. As the left-wing radicals in the US are attempting to crush the way of life of all Americans, Americans (black, brown, and white alike) are coming out as a group to fight against it. We can all learn from how Tubman unapologetically fought against the racist authoritarians of her time. And then, like now, these authoritarians would have called her a traitor, an enemy of freedom, all while she was fighting to secure the freedom that such racist authoritarians were withholding from black and brown Americans. We can only hope that the Americans and Canadians of the present will embrace the same vigor that Tubman exhibited.
Being Canadian and of mixed race, Red and white, I had never heard Ms Tubman's story told so completely or honestly. Thank you. The world could use a million more like her, especially in these present times when certain whites want to turn the clocks backwards, and destroy the progress of the past 200 years. Long Live Harriet Tubman!
