I’m sending you this short newsletter in hopes it finds you well, or at least finds you at all! By the way, did you know I have a podcast now?
Recently some readers let me know that the newsletter had been getting caught in their spam filters or diverted into the Social or Promotions folders in Gmail. I haven’t pinpointed why that keeps happening, but it seems to be more of a problem when I send out a newsletter announcing a podcast episode.
You can play a new podcast episode from your email inbox anytime you receive a newsletter with a link (you should have received one early this morning), or you can subscribe via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or your podcast app of choice. If you’re old school like me, here’s the RSS link to copy and paste into your podcast app.
Here are the episodes so far.
Episode 1: How to buy books during a pandemic (Apple / Spotify)
With Christen Thompson, co-owner of Itinerant Literate Books, on ways to resist the Amazon leviathan.
Episode 2: Psychedelic empathy (Apple / Spotify)
With Adam F. Naughton, former Republican politico of South Carolina, on psilocybin mushrooms therapy, disability activism, and radical empathy.
Episode 3: You might be a racist (Apple / Spotify)
With Logan Smith, proprietor of the popular Twitter account @YesYoureRacist.
Episode 4: The patina of politeness (Apple / Spotify)
With Mika Gadsden, founder of the Charleston Activist network, on black activism in Charleston and the erasure of Gullah/Geechee culture.
Episode 5: White picket geofence (Apple / Spotify)
With Clemson assistant professor Dr. James N. Gilmore on digital surveillance by police, school administrators, and parents.
The podcasts are free! Happy listening.
