All three designs are by the talented Charleston artist CJ Bones (@builtbybones). I commissioned him to come up with a logo based on some vague instructions: I wanted a death metal-inspired design with gnarled tree branches and tendrils of Spanish moss. He delivered a stunning logo, as well as two alternate designs that y’all said would look rad on a shirt, so I went with all three.

I’m having the shirts printed at Turning Leaf, a nonprofit screen printing shop here in North Charleston that hires formerly incarcerated people and does group therapy and career training for re-entry. You can read more about their mission here.
